Last week of school!!

I can't believe this is my last week of school! I had my working interview at Crema Bakery yesterday, I had to make red velvet cupcakes, mexican chocolate cupcakes, and eclaires. I also had to temper white chocolate and make a parchment piping cone. I did great, I'd be really surprised if I find out tomorrow that I didn't get the externship. She was really impressed that the red velvet cupcakes turned out perfect, she said its a really tricky recipe and that a lot of people don't get it right on the first try. I was really nervous I would mess totally mess up on something but everything went so smoothly. So yeah I'll find out tomorrow aternoon if I'll get the position or not =)

As for my last week, we have been working on our sugar showpieces. I finished mine 2 day early yesterday. I originally was going to do a space theme, but then decided to go with a sailor jerry theme, lol. Here are the pictures, the mouse is from Suzanne's piece but I thought it was super cute.
The anchor, rope and banner are all pulled sugar, the rock on the bottow is rock sugar, the heart is hand blown, and the green sugar in the back is bubble sugar. We cook the sugar (isomalt actually) to 330 and work with it around a temp of 200-300 depending on what you're doing with it. Needless to say, my hand are sensitive this week.
